Adobe launches new Photoshop app for Android with AI features

Adobe has announced the launch of a completely new beta version of Photoshop for Android, months after launching a version specifically designed for iPhone.

The new app features a mobile-optimized interface that allows users to easily edit images, remove unwanted elements, and combine content, along with access to a library of free designs and images via Adobe Stock.

Adobe explained that the new app is not intended to replace the desktop version of Photoshop, but rather offers a suite of powerful software tools within a simplified mobile experience.

These tools include layering, advanced selection, and an AI-powered generative fill feature the company calls Firefly.

During the beta, all users will have access to a number of advanced features, most notably combining and editing images using basic Photoshop tools, easily removing or replacing parts of an image with Tap Select, and quickly eliminating distracting elements with tools like the Spot Healing Brush.

Other features offered by the app include the ability to automatically add or modify elements using the intelligent Generative Fill feature, precisely select elements using the Object Select tool or Magic Wand, and use other advanced tools.

Adobe noted that users need to subscribe to the Photoshop Mobile & Web plan after the trial period to access paid features.

These features include removing unwanted elements with the Remove tool, masking objects with the Clone Stamp tool, and Content-Aware Fill to fill parts of an image with similar content. Additionally, it supports exporting files in multiple formats, such as PSD, TIF, JPG, and PNG.

The new app is available for download via the Google Play Store for devices running Android 11 or later, requiring at least 6GB of RAM (8GB is recommended for optimal performance).
